They aren't delusional, just plain evil. If they really bought the whole genderfluid shit they'd join in but for some reason they only force it on their kids.
It's usually women pushing this stuff, I think they don't join in themselves because they subconsciously know being a woman gives them a lot of power in society.

Women are hardwired to be conformists and tend to be extreme authoritarians, whether or not they realize it. They'll run with the crowd and dogpile anyone who doesn't religiously obey the guy in charge.
Of course, if you see more and more of them defying the crowd and the Boss Man, things are changing for the better.
