What exactly is a teachers union for? They get the summer off, all federal and school holidays, the usual pto time, and maternity leave for like a month as well. There are agreements between employers and unions. Typically, part of those agreements are clauses stating that the employer can't summarily fire an employee without a form of due process that is likely going to take slightly longer than knee jerking freak outs.

This would clearly be a violation of any type of morality clause that is in every teacher contract. If he's tenure, they will need to do a 3020A hearing first if he lived in New York State for example. I'm not sure about MD State law.

In some cases good teachers get stuck there too. For example, two punk ass kids start to fight in the hallway. You step in as a teacher to break it up. After the fight a parent alleges you were too rough, mishandled, or did something too much against their kid.
Now you're stuck in the room until your case resolves. And there are years worth of backlog cases that will get heard first.
Parents need to press charges, this would not be acceptable on school property why is this acceptable coming through their forced visual instructions, was this done with school property, cause my child and I am liable for things done with school property, UNACCEPTABLE!!!

That's what a teacher's union means. In NYC they are so strong they literally can't fire people and will pay teachers to show up and not teach in a large handful of cases. Would not at all be shocked to see them equally as strong in MD.
That happens in a lot of districts when they have a teacher that just isn't any good at teaching anymore but they don't have a good reason for not renewing a tenured teacher's contract. There's a list of positions in any district reserved for just such an occasion.
