I work in local advertising sales in FL and about 80-90% of my accounts are local businesses across a large variety of business types. With the exception of gyms and movie theaters, all of my clients were operating. Hell, our home improvement clients were busier than they had ever been.
The only businesses that shut down completely (outside of gyms and indoor restaurants) were the ones who chose to shut down completely. You can’t blame DeSantis on business owner’s free will.
And when you compare it to the authoritarian lock down of every state (outside of South Dakota and it’s tiny population), we barely had an issue economically. In terms of high-populated states, especially one with a gigantic senior population, Florida is proving that almost everything about the way government is handling COVID is absolute bullshit.
Trump’s best move was to allow states to take the wheel on COVID this with federal support. It showed everyone’s true colors and revealed a lot of truths behind what does and doesn’t effect the spread of COVID. FL has proven it’s one of the absolute freest states to live in.
