Y'know, the sad reality of this is not just that it's true, but that it proves Liberals right about one thing: Conservatives do nothing but slow down progress. That's essentially what Dabney said there... that Conservative values simply act as a weighted ball & chain on the forward march of humanity.

That may sound a bit like a negative perspective, but in light of what humanity is doing right now, I would argue that perhaps we need to slow the march a bit. Technology seems to have us sprinting toward obsolescence.

To make matters worse, we have a certain segment of society that is panicking & frantically trying to saw off it's own foot unaware that, if successful, they may no longer be attached to the ball & chain, but they'll be stumbling away on one foot and their bloody stump.
