This might be controversial since Assad is indeed a bad dictator but does the US really have a right to be there? All we’ve done by supporting the rebels is cause more destruction and the rebels have just essentially become another terrorist group. Technically the US just launched an unprovoked attack on a sovereign nation while not even in a state of war with Syria.
In the case of the Russians they were at least invited there by the Syrian government. The US just rolled in with its planes and bombs and started supporting terrorists to get back at Putin
