Problem. Reaction. Solution. It's an easy game they play but most people aren't hip to it. They control Problem and Solution. Reaction is predictable

There is not a single abolitionist who would not grab a feasible method, or a gradual gain, if it came his way. The difference is that the abolitionist always holds high the banner of his ultimate goal, never hides his basic principles, and wishes to get to his goal as fast as humanly possible. Hence, while the abolitionist will accept a gradual step in the right direction if that is all that he can achieve, he always accepts it grudgingly, as merely a first step toward a goal which he always keeps blazingly clear. The abolitionist is a "button pusher" who would blister his thumb pushing a button that would abolish the State immediately, if such a button existed. But the abolitionist also knows that alas, such a button does not exist, and that he will take a bit of the loaf if necessary — while always preferring the whole loaf if he can achieve it.

  1. Government warns about bad thing.

  2. Government causes bad thing to happen.

  3. Government fixes bad thing, but takes away Freedom.

Rinse, wash, repeat.

Carry_Your_Name 10 points ago +10 / -0

See, that's how government deifies itself. It poses as your prophet, your savior, and then your lord.

5
War_Hamster 5 points ago +5 / -0

Bingo. The false god.

We empower the government - the government expands, as it must - the government flips the script and pretends it has the power.

It only works because we fell asleep at the wheel.

Isaiah 33:22 states that "the Lord is our king, lawgiver and judge, and the Lord will save us all." That's where the design of three branches of government came from. Paul reaffirmed that in Romans 13: "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."

Unfortunately too many Christians don't understand this. We obey the governing authorities ONLY BECAUSE the governing authorities are established by God. If a governing authority establishes itself as God and forces everybody to worship it like Nebuchadnezzar, then we ought to obey God - the real God the Lord almighty - rather than man. That message is consistent with Jesus's teaching - "render Caesar's to Caesar, render God's to God." Besides, nearly every outstanding figure in the bible stood up and spoke truth to power.

Too bad you posted this on a sleepy thread. More should see this.

We obey the governing authorities ONLY BECAUSE the governing authorities are established by God.

And the sharia law countries worldwide...

Homer Simpson was wrong. It's the government, not alcohol, that is both the cause of and the solution to all of life's problems.

O trust ye in they who are placed above by others above / thine wish is heard not by ears but turned noses / those who give, are as well those who may take / praise be this royalty placed on high by royalty

...and wear a mask.

Carry_Your_Name 3 points ago +3 / -0

Mask is the new burqa. Worse than the original one. At least the muslim burqa only covers your head, your nose and mouth are in the open air, and you still have a facial expression.

2
BirthHole 2 points ago +2 / -0

Choice = power, and governments prefer the power themselves. So, it's the nature of government to always move to consolidate power/choice for themselves.

The issue for us is that once power/choice is ceded to the government its binding on future generations. For example, we are paying for the mistakes of our past citizens voting to allow federal income tax.

What happens is that, over generations, a great schism occurs between the people and government. 'Government' becomes it's own constituency leeching as much power/money from the people as possible, and the people become choked with financial burden and limited ability to effect change.

Revolution is the inevitable result.
