The medieval church was ok with feudalism for a long time. Seems to me you are misunderstanding feudalism. As a system of interlocking duties and responsibilities to each other, it worked pretty well for a long time.
Once you got to the divine right of kings, things break down for the two way responsibilities.
Nothing in feudalism approaches the top down control of Communism and it's slavery to the state.
