Honestly, I think it was a lot less obvious before the 2000s. Things seemed pretty normal until then, although looking back, the media hid a lot of what was really going on. I think 9/11 changed everything and it's only been downhill ever since (2016-2020 under Trump not included!).

True! I despised Booosh for invading Iraq in 2001 so I was a Democrat. Hated Obama's obviously unAmerican and racist attitudes, so I turned Republican. When Trump emerged, I lost my party affiliations and became a fervent supporter. The funny thing? NONE of my principles, ethics or beliefs changed; what I failed to factor in was the monstrous betrayal of ordinary citizens by the denizens of the Uniparty Swamp. President Trump freed many of us from their Punch and Judy lowbrow fake enmity show. Anyone paying attention now realizes that, to these evil people, WE are the serfs of the New World Order! I'm gonna fight on, not so much for myself, but for my three adolescent grandsons and others like them, such as yourself and all the other young adults facing not just foreign enemies, but traitors within!

Same here. I didn't leave the left, the left left me.

And now the supposedly right Repubs have done the same thing. Still, despite the betrayal I think it's better to know what they're really like and where we really stand. Can't deal with a problem if you're not aware of it.
