How many municipal water plants draw surface water from rivers at points downstream from other cities/towns, settle it through active media (charcoal populated with microorganisms), add aluminium chlorohydrate as a flocculating agent, settle again, then inject 0.2-4 parts per million free chlorine and into the pipes it goes?
Lots. Most of the poop has been left behind but not all. What is left is just 'protein' because there's NO live germ-bugs in it. Plemty of (yum) dead ones though.
The more you know about modern water (and sewer) treatment, the less likely you are to become hysterical about stories like this. The United States is best of breed when it comes to drinking poop.
Now Bill Gates' nuclear startup TerraPower is the wrong horse, definitely. Too small and cannot scale easily to power the grid in the US, horrible waste profile and in developing countries they actually suggest just covering the reactor with dirt and planting warning signs when the toxic crap bucket reaches its (60 year?) end of life.
