Well that means 30% were not white or asian... What races are they talking about then? Blacks are only, what, 12%?

In Boston, 22.4% of the population is black, and 17.5% is Hispanic. Accounting for "other" groups, 56-60% of the population is either white or asian, so black and Hispanic students are less present in advanced classes by 25-42%, proportional to the population of the city.

And... That tells us nothing at all about how many qualified students of any race are being improperly denied advanced class access. It could be anywhere from 0-100% of the students that should be in those classes by merit actually are, based on that data.
