Well, I'm trying to cut back on my comments. Quality over quantity and all, but there's just so many great commenters on this site I get fantastic replies that demand a response from me.
My name started out as a self-deprecating joke name that was actually making fun of someone else back in the days of Yahoo Hearts League. I became Francis_the_wonder_hamster and used that and other hamster names over the years. You can go back and look at the old archives of Zerohedge when it was new and you'll see a ton of material from FTWH.
I like to play around with joking about actually thinking I'm a hamster, but the hamster ID serves to get people less upset when I'm being a jerk (which means disagreeing with a SJW). I debate a lot on Lefty websites.
After the election fiasco, my main website at the time, VOAT, was killed. I came over here and onto Gab, and decided it was time to launch the War_Hamster. The cuddly, reasonable hamster was dead, now they'd feel hamster wrath.
I haven't launched the War Hamster yet on Gab, but I'm thinking of creating some content and starting to post it there. I'll do it if my video skills are up to the task.
I'm surprised voat lasted as long as it did. The impression that I got back in... 2016, maybe? was that it was overrun with trolls and the refusal of the site owners to actually clean house was its downfall. Plus, by then I had the old t_d. So what became of it after then? Did the trolls give up because it was no longer an important target, and so a community formed?
I got to VOAT after the Q Reddit community got nuked. It was a very interesting experience when first encountering the VOAT OG's. They militantly defended their very odd cultish norms, but they were definitely on our side. There was a huge blame-Jews-for-everything contingent, and the language was as vulgar as you'd like.
Most of the Reddit community settled in on one of the three VOAT Q boards, and there was some decent discourse, with some good research shared, and plenty of laughs (but not as funny as this place). There was also the usual false info and lack of skepticism before sharing false info, but it was a positive experience.
The activity had started to dwindle a bit until the election started heating up, but there was enough that I still spent most of my online time there. It died suddenly in the first week of January. The site owner just made an announcement with no notice that he couldn't afford to keep it going anymore. The site had been attacked many times and had gone offline for extended periods, so he might have just gotten tired of upgrading and patching.
I'm glad it happened because I ended up here and I love this site. I knew I was home the moment I got here.
I wonder. Maybe the blame-Jews-for-everything contingent turned me off of Voat because I was a babe in the woods back then compared to now. Now it would offend me much less, if I saw that they were saying what they honestly believed. Unlike many here, I want to know what the truth actually is. (Although I don't think you can blame the Jews for everything.) At the time I saw them as just a bunch of trolls, though, trying to ruin the site.
