There was a rash of identity theft cases this summer and I did some research into where many of these cases stemmed from and there is a connection cell phone providers. I changed providers to Sprint and make SS was used to unlock/change plans. I'm not positive this was the source but two friends had the same problem after the same purchase of cell phones and providers. It would be interesting to note if AT&T targeted a certain demographic to make their difficult during the Summer of Hate.
