That is NOT what the second amendment is designed for. The Second Amendment isn't designed to protect you from other private citizens. It's there to protect you from the GOVERNMENT AND TYRANNY. The second amendment just so happens to be effective against private citizens.
When government sicks private citizens on you as a form of asymmetrical warfare, and the security of a free state is at risk, it's back on the table. Enemies foreign and domestic. Just because they're a citizen (i bet a lot of them aren't) doesn't mean they're not the enemy, and just because it's a break in, doesn't mean it's not war.
