We have had, over the last decades, court cases on affirmative actions because it was acknowledged there was basic unfairness--it does not encourage equality--hence the drive for equity (a new name for unfairness).
I remember when tests were administered and depending on the ethic group, different ethnic groups had different grades to qualify. There was a huge outcry and the decision was reversed.
After many years of indoctrination, they are trying it again but in the name of equity.

Classic example from the 80's. I was in the Australian Army and the unit I was posted to on Temporary Duty had a new soldier march in.
She was a Private.
She was a complete incompetent. Seriously - this woman couldn't find her arse with a compass and a map.
She was an Aboriginal.
She was a Sergeant seven months later.
I pulled the pin on my military career a few months later rather than reengage because it was blatantly obvious that the Army was in the hands of idiots.
