I’ve found that people who are making generalizations about a group of people, especially when those generalizations are derogatory, are typically operating based on specific anecdotal evidence or no evidence at all.
I’m thinking about my own anecdotal evidence interacting with black women from Nigeria and Algeria who have been quiet, subdued, intelligent, hard workers. I’ve had a couple longer term friendships with these black women from a short time after they arrived in the US (legally) until present (about a decade) and they’ve taken the time to learn English, they pay their taxes, and they stay out of things that aren’t their business.
If anything I’ve found the boastful black men I’ve encountered to be the biggest issue in the workplace. Even in those cases I’ve had the opportunity to befriend many black men who have dodged their racial stereotypes and become engineers and tradesmen.
Writing off an identity group because some of the people are literally retarded and think burning down buildings constitutes free speech is a losing strategy. If you’re a hiring manager keep doing it though because that’s more undervalued human capital in the marketplace for me.
