Germany 1930s?

14
randomusers239874 14 points ago +16 / -2

People think they were burning books on science, but they were actually burning books on communism and feminism lol.

5
Call_me_Titty 5 points ago +6 / -1

So it started with the burner of sexual propaganda, pornography and other intentionally degenerating material that was in fact sent in to topple Germany. There were train carts of porn being flooded into Germany. I won't specify (((WHO)))sent it.

So then Hitler said burn it, and they all got a little burn happy IMO and they incrementally started burning other works, of course starting with the more socially degenerative but ultimately they burned a lot fo good works.

PurestEvil 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's the equivalent of "gender studies" and "critical race theory" of today. Or the plethora of works in psychology and other social-humanitarian areas that are never referenced because they are useless trash pulled out of their asses.

And it arched over to let's say new movies like Captain Marvel or Superwoman. Or the Woke Trek series. I assume the overarching went somewhere like that...

This forum which bans anyone who disagrees with you nutjobs lmao. Ya'll don't want free speech, you silence anyone who triggers you. Like me in 3...2...1... Enjoy your safe space!

America1stAndOnly 3 points ago +3 / -0

You joined 24 minutes ago at the time of me typing this message. You're clearly not a patriot and not here in good faith. Free speech is afforded to those that also believe in free speech. Your side however has been fine with censorship for years now and tries to get away with not being censored yourself by screaming about free speech whenever someone has that audacity to treat you he way you've been treating others.

We are for freedom of speech.

We will also treat you the way you've been treating us. So since you've been so eager to silence and deplatform us, we will do the same to you. Then we'll go back to being pro-freedom of speech for those that genuinely believe it. Sorry sweaty, but not sorry. Enjoy your ban. I'm sure you'll feel oh so righteous and indignant about it.

Lol you think youre triggering us

2
becky21k1 2 points ago +3 / -1

What are you talking about?

1
America1stAndOnly 1 point ago +2 / -1

It's a 30 minute old account that thinks it can stick it to us because we'll treat it the same way the left has been treating us for years. As if banning someone whose ideology revolves around censorship and cancel culture makes us the real bad guys. Really we're just holding them to their own standards.

1
becky21k1 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ahh so it's a troll mad that their previous 16 accounts were banned

-3
brocolli12 -3 points ago +1 / -4

>complains about free speech

>censors anyone who disagrees with the circlejerk

You realise this is one of the most anti free speech platforms on the internet right lol

2
becky21k1 2 points ago +2 / -0

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I post shit all the time that disagrees with people and the most I get is imbeciles trolling me and a few downvotes.

I remember as a child, loving books and finding the idea of burning books abhorrent. Then in school, I started asking, "What books did the Nazis burn?" because everyone makes it out like they were going Fahrenheit 451 and burning everything.

An odd thing, no teacher knew.

Eventually, Iearned that the books were very targeted, starting with books on sex changes.

Now I see how books are used, how academic papers are used, how media is used... to destroy people, demoralizing others. The destroy culture and to justify genocide.

Now I support reading books and build libraries, filled with books, books I don't like, books I find reprehensible and I also support burning books, books that do not educate or entertain, but indoctrinate and destroy.

-2
BoostPower -2 points ago +1 / -3

That's a contradiction, my dude.

1
America1stAndOnly 1 point ago +2 / -1

No it's not a contradiction to censor those that believe in censorship. I believe in freedom of speech for those that also believe in freedom of speech. For those that engage in cancel culture and academic based propaganda and terrorism, then I'm okay with them being censored. It's just holding them to their own standards afterall.

No, it isn't... It's simply a lack of childish absolutes.

The Crusades.

5
BoughtByBloomberg2 5 points ago +5 / -0

Uh the Crusades never burnt books as in they made Islam illegal or anything. They expressly came in to protect the local Christians from constant invasion and suppression by the Muslim hordes. Similarly the Muslims claimed the Christians were invading and doing the same.

2
Truth-Liberty-Nation 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don’t have proof, but I can’t imagine they allowed people to read the Korans they found or declare that Jesus is not the literal Son of God.

2
BoughtByBloomberg2 2 points ago +2 / -0

They did, cause they were precious works of art and the Muslims would pay money to ransom them to prevent desecration. But even besides that which crusade are you even talking about? There's tons of them. Some even failed.

1
Truth-Liberty-Nation 1 point ago +1 / -0

That’s true.

The Catholic Church preserved the classical works of antiquity though they were written by pagans.

Then again, they had a soft spot for paganism (apparently), and Islam was always a threat until the 19th century.

-8
Old_Timer -8 points ago +6 / -14

Not the good guys. A bunch of land hungry thieves using religion as an excuse to invade other places. Not the good guys.

13
Testosteroneape2000 13 points ago +17 / -4

They were the good guys because they fought against Islam.

-3
Strongocho [S] -3 points ago +1 / -4

All organized religion is garbage. Islam is the worst because they never made it out of the bronze age, but all organized religion is trash and mistreats people that don't obey their cult.

-5
Old_Timer -5 points ago +6 / -11

No, they weren’t. There was a massive increase in Europe’s population, and the feudal system couldn’t handle the increase in “landless younger sons” so they sent them off to war for other people’s property. (The church only took some of the excess, and rich families had to supplement income for those to rise in power.) The whole thing pretty much stopped when the Black Plague started killing off the population, which meant worker-serfs started being valuable and ...

Sigh. Actual studied European medieval history. Even back then, “follow the money” was always at the root of most “political” decisions.

6
Testosteroneape2000 6 points ago +7 / -1

Thats your interpretation. Mine is different. If the crusades never happened and the Spanish had never kicked the muslims out of Spain then Europe would be majority Muslim now. They are hero’s in my mind for stopping that. Their motivations of greed are irrelevant because everyone was greedy at the time. I have also studied crusader history.

-1
Old_Timer -1 points ago +5 / -6

The Spanish kicked the Muslims and the Jews out in 1492. The crusades lasted between 1094 - 1290.

5
Testosteroneape2000 5 points ago +7 / -2

That is a very misleading statement. The spirit of the crusades and their influence went on for a lot longer than you suggest. People like the hammer Martel and the Spanish monarchy thought of themselves as crusaders and considered their work to be part of the crusades. The expulsion of the Muslims from Spain and France is considered the end of the crusades by many. Just because the knights Templar were not involved does not make it any less of a crusade.

2
JesusWept 2 points ago +2 / -0

Here's a fact: the Muslims were never chased out of Greece or the Greek islands, which then included virtually all of "Turkey." They banned Christianity, turned all churches into mosques, killed millions including the Armenian genocide, genocided Cretans, Cypriots and others, kept entire populations as slaves, abused women and children, stole virtually all valuables and land, and remained thus until the 20th century. My own grandfather fought against them in Achea. They didnt leave the mainland until the British forced them out after WWI, didnt leave Crete until the Cretan war in the 1920s, still occupy Cyprus largely because of H Kissinger. STILL OCCUPY THE GREEK CAPITAL.

TL;DR Muslim occupation is horrific.

2
America1stAndOnly 2 points ago +2 / -0

I agree with you bro and I'd even say that a crusade is happening right now.

12
Tartarian-Kingtwo 12 points ago +12 / -0

They were definitely the good guys. If they wanted, they could have quite literally genocided their enemies. They had much better tech and equipment -by far-

However they RETOOK their land, and stopped. Instead of continuing beyond.

The whole revionist history blaming it on religion is nonsense. They took back the land they had stolen, and you call the crusaders theives. Lmao!

Damn muslims doing the same shit in Europe right now as "refugees"

4
Truth-Liberty-Nation 4 points ago +4 / -0

Good point.

All of the Mediterranean basin (including Syria, Egypt, etc.) were almost totally converted to Christianity for centuries until the Islamic jihad.

2
NerBolanski 2 points ago +2 / -0

The whole Mediterranean besides the gulf Arab region was Caucasian before arabs and Turks invaded.

1
Truth-Liberty-Nation 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don’t think that was true of Egypt at least.

1
NerBolanski 1 point ago +1 / -0

I would say a huge part of Egypt but not every part of Egypt.Egypt was routinely conquered by Caucasian tribes for a long time.

1
Truth-Liberty-Nation 1 point ago +1 / -0

They were conquered by negroid tribes and ruled by them too: the Nubian dynasty.

I saw some genetic study analysis that claimed that most of Egyptians’ ancestry is indigenous to the area for millennia, so they’ve always been primarily brown people essentially even if their rulers were whiter or blacker given different regimes.

-6
Old_Timer -6 points ago +2 / -8

I do not have time to unravel the threads of your lack of knowledge about historical subjects, and would politely remind you that your perceptions of the European refuge crisis are created by the mainstream media, which you probably know, is not always honest in its portrayal of reality. As for your contentions about Christianity, kindly remember we are talking about a period of time when the only version allowed was that run by the Catholic Church, who actively discouraged anyone from reading the Bible and burned “heretics” regularly. (Odds are good your current faith would fall under that umbrella.)

5
standonthewall 5 points ago +6 / -1

It's far more likely that you do not have the ability to prove your assertions since you take the time to write at length about your supposed superior knowledge instead of simply showing it.

0
JesusWept 0 points ago +1 / -1

Wrong. The Orthodox church predates Catholicism. The Muslims burned the capital of Christendom, (Constantinople) killed millions unprovoked, enslaved nations and attempted mass genocides. Greek Christians met underground for **centuries. A large number of these Greek nationals are still oppressed in Cyprus, Turkey and the archipelago.

Well, it's only because they didn't win...

2
America1stAndOnly 2 points ago +3 / -1

This is a very smooth brain take. If the books are racist propaganda that tell you to hate your nation, yourself, and become trans at the age of 4, then maybe we should be burning those books. I don't think we'd be the bad guys either.

1
Strongocho [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I disagree with censorship in all forms. Even if the ideas are evil or dangerous.

Well if we burn the Antifa Handbook, I think we will ne the good guys. So evil and useless.

1
Strongocho [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

No, just because an idea is evil or dangerous does not mean it should be censored. We should allow them to speak al they want and expose themselves as fools. Censoring people just makes them look correct.

2
pente1776 2 points ago +2 / -0

A lot of commenters seem to be pro book burning.

When libraries are outlawed Librarians will be outlaws

1
Strongocho [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

yeah, I am actually really disappointed at the comments section on this one. I am not a Christian or Republican though and I think most people here are. I am agnostic and a "get off my lawn" libertarian. I want all ideas to be allowed, even ones I disagree with. I despise Islam, but I will never threaten their right to speak and be heard. That is the point of the 1st amendment. To protect views people don't like, popular opinions do not need protection.

Allied occupying forces in Germany post WW2.

0
DoubleEagle 0 points ago +1 / -1

They weren't the good guys. They were puppets of the greater evil.

1
acasper 1 point ago +1 / -0

You’re not wrong, the situation in WW2 never should have come to the hot war that did end up happening. It’s also very subjective based on a viewer’s current perspective on geopolitics. Assuming an American perspective the Allied forces typically are viewed as a liberating force representing good triumphing over evil. That’s wrong because that’s not how war works, but it’s the best example I could think of. I get why people are butthurt about it, but the allies did those things.

Christians ban books all the time. The Harry Potter books for example, cuz witchcraft.

2
JesusWept 2 points ago +2 / -0

That is not a ban, its a boycott.

1
Strongocho [S] 1 point ago +3 / -2

yeah, they are not the good guys either. Organized religion is trash.

1
America1stAndOnly 1 point ago +2 / -1

Yet the books and movies still exist and there's even a new video game being made. Doesn't seem like much of a ban to me. But do go on with your edgelord atheist take about how Christians are the real bad guys.
