Also, you don't need ammo that'll penetrate lvl IV+ armor when you've got 50 rounds on tap. Most plate armor is only rated for 5ish impacts before it starts coming apart. You dump 15 rounds into the chest of someone wearing level IV ceramic plates and half of those rounds are going to be tearing apart their chest cavity. Even with 5 impacts most people will have so many bruised and broken ribs they won't be able to breath and will no longer be an effective fighting unit.
Stargate even demonstrated this too. The G'ould had heavy armor plate but they'd just pump 20 or 30 rounds of 5.7x28mm into them and they'd be toast.

Well said - and, Leftists sincerely don't believe this ever happens, and when you give them any concrete examples (the Wichita Horror, just for one), they just assume you're either lying or just being dramatic / paranoid - and they certainly don't believe this kind of thing has ever been prevented by homeowners with a gun.
Heck, homeowners with a dog have prevented mass murders. Literally any resistance is enough to dissuade most opportunistic burglary. Planned burglary while the residents are clearly home is a different category all together.
There was some serial killer I recall reading about that would just move on if the door was locked. He felt that if your door was unlocked you were inviting him inside to kill you as some sort of elaborate assisted suicide.
Let them be the ones to leave their doors unlocked. And a big sign "Gun-Free Household" and "BLM" and a rainbow flag to show how woke they are.
My thoughts have always been if someone is willing to break into my house how am I supposed to know what they are capable of? There are plenty if stories of intruders assuring the family: "just give me your money/valuables then I'll leave"...then they rape the mom and daughter and shoot everyone. Point is, If you're crazy enough to break into someone's home God only knows what else you're capable of.

For real. I would gladly buy a new Xbox if I destroyed it in the process of killing a home invader. That's what insurance is for anyway. You don't invade someone's home. You cannot read a home invader's mind. Maybe they want your shoes. Maybe they want to murder your entire family. There's no point in second guessing. They are a violent aggressor. And they are armed. And if you were only to scare them off, there's no promise they won't come back with friends as an act of petty revenge.
You are not defending your xbox. You are defending yourself and family from someone that has proven beyond any doubt that laws and rules mean nothing to them.

Damn, I got into a nice argument with my Aussie friend over this exact thing. He made a similar argument asking if I heard a bump in the night, if I would take my gun and kill someone in cold blood.
My response was similar to what OP said as well. It's not about my material possessions, its about the safety of my family and myself. If some motherfucker breaks into my home, I have to assume they are here to do harm. In am well justified in ending another man's life if he endangers mine or my family's.
Here's what I think about home intruders:
If you break into a house without a weapon and are simply trying to steal things you've consented yourself to potentially being beaten within an inch of your life. I wouldn't blame someone for killing you anyways.
If you break in with a weapon regardless of whether you're looking to rob/rape/kill/whatever then you've consented to forfeiting your life and deserve what you get.
No matter what I will never fault someone for killing a home intruder as your home is your sanctuary. Someone breaking into it would most likely lead to you never feeling truly safe inside of it again, and that's a terrible way to live day by day.
It has nothing to do with any principle of a person breaking in. It has to do with the THREAT that the person breaking in is making. Breaking in shows that a person has no morals, and there is a real possibility the person will kill your family even if you “let” them take the Xbox in order to get more stuff.
There is no moral judgments to be made IN THE MOMENT. There is only a threat to your family’s life and to your life.
