I told him, "The xbox was besides the point. We are talking about a person intruding into my house at night with my family present. Hell yes, I'd shoot him. It's the principle of the thing. I'd shoot a hole in my xbox without blinking to do it."
They are intruders, they are not welcomed and have only evil intentions. Anyone can say I am just stealing...they could be on a power trip and beat people/rape/kidnap and take your source of income (work from home computer is gone now). All that matters is your home is your castle.
This was important in drafting the constitution. It's what stops soldiers from taking quarter in our homes as well. This is a dangerous slippery slope.
