I told him, "The xbox was besides the point. We are talking about a person intruding into my house at night with my family present. Hell yes, I'd shoot him. It's the principle of the thing. I'd shoot a hole in my xbox without blinking to do it."

Fun fact, the slang for breaking and entering in Japan is raping the house, because that's exactly what it is.

I'll need to dig up the kanji and romanji. Source was a book from the 90s about Japanese slang called "Sex in Japanese" I'll see if I can find it. The actual phrase was something to the effect of "raping the gate" and referred to breaking into the traditional style Japanese home gates iirc. The reason it stuck in my mind is there was a note that the phrase was getting push back from the newer generation which included female thieves and I thought at the time it was funny that a criminal would be offended about vulgar slang used in the act of a crime. Thin skinned criminals.
