Military recruiters are the worst. They have quotas to meet and will say whatever they have to say to get you join. They can and will lie.

Sadly, my son in law is looking into becoming a recruiter when he re-enlists. Daughter is now hoping they can get New York. Needless to say I'm not excited for any of this.

Good ones will NOT lie (there are many ethical recruiter just like there are some bad ones, dame in EVERY career field). A good military recruiter does NOT want to have to face recruiter investigations and improprieties.

My ex husband that was a Ranger, Ranger Instructor and retired as a Green Beret said he knew since he was a teenager he wanted to be a Ranger. He went to a recruiter and they told him they could get him straight into the Ranger battalion. Then when he went to officially swear in he was told he had to go into some other MOS. He says he told them then I'm not swearing in because I'm coming here to be a Ranger. And it got changed. He went to Army boot camp, then Ranger school, then joined a Ranger battalion, then became a Ranger instructor, then off to become a Green Beret.

He never once was regular Army but he's the one that told me the recruiters will lie. Guess I'll find out if and when my son in law does get into recruiting.

Just bc some recruiters lie doesn't mean ALL do. Your son-in-law needs to ensure that ANYTHING he is promised I done in writing before he signs anything. He can speak to the Station Commander, the recruiters CO & 1SG, and the MEPS commander to ask for confirmation of anything he has been promised.

If anything he is told by recruiter sounds to good to be true, just ask for written proof. Ask questions on USAREQ social media or send them to Ask the Recruiter. https://www.facebook.com/USAREC/
