Remember when we had real heroes as Generals? People who served and later came up the ranks, like Patton, or Colonel York.

That was Alvin C. York’s highest rank, which he held in the Tennessee National Guard.

I didn't realize he joined again in WWII, seems it was mostly limited or ceremonialiously in support of the war. Thanks for the education.
