If you own a business, EVERY single fixture in your store is assessed property tax. I owned a bookstore and the shelves the books sat on were taxed. The display that had gee gaws on it was taxed. If I bought $1000 worth of books and none of them sold I was still taxed on the increase in my inventory at the end of the year. Its insane how much and how frequently we are taxed.
I'm a huge fan of the Business Permit and Occupational License I pay for based on the prior years gross revenue. So you could lose money net - have no fears, the county government is here to charge for the privilege. (Not to mention - it's $0 fee for up to $100,000, immediately jumps to a flat rate on the entire amount at $100,001 gross revenue, so earning that extra dollar costs you $190.)
The Founding Fathers revolted over so much less than what we put up with. Government "by the people, for the people" is just a giant corrupt, parasitic, and overreaching bunch of bureaucrats and grifters at this point.
