At least I live in an area outside of the major metro so I don't need emissions thanks to a rural exemption.
Emissions as far as I know is still handled by a state sanctioned monopoly with like 3 testing stations in the whole metro area. I believe it was around $50 the last time I had to do it around '07. It's an extra layer of sucks ass if you live in the metro area or burbs.
Oh yeah when you buy a new car, you get to pay sales tax and registration on it!
Colorado is like a less obviously retarded California. We get some basic shit right, like we know how to manage wild lands and control fires, and have reasonable water infrastructure and mostly fair water rights, we have like one really dumb magazine law no one cares about because it's impossible to enforce...but some stuff is just full retard and it's usually because someone is made money on the deal.
We've got a retarded magazine law. You can only buy a 10 round magazine but you are allowed to possess whatever your magazine will allow. I had to go to Virginia to get a couple of 15 round magazines. I couldn't find any 30 round magazines for my M1. No problem legally for transporting over borders either.
There was a company that used to sell magazine "rebuild kits" that had ever component to actually build a brand new magazine. Now I can't remember who they are not that I have the means to order a few.
Good luck with that draconian vehicle registration, brother.
Yeah ours is like a 15rd max but it's not illegal to possess or trade "grandfathered" 30rd. So you can't really tell, and some shops will happily point you to the Magpul rack where you can buy a standard cap shell and rebuild kit. You basically have to buy two Magpul bags rather than 1. As far as I know no one has ever been prosecuted only for a mag.
By far the worst part is Magpul left Colorado over it.
Colorado is widely seen as "liberal" now but it's always been just a corrupt uniparty state. Most of the dumb vehicle stuff comes out of the 90s when it was a "red" state and all those dumb weedheads hadn't turned it all liberal. Even when it was red, it was just Bushites.

Damn dude your state is fucked!
I forgot we have emissions testing here every other year. I don't remember the cost but I think it's $7
