It's also worth noting that the school itself is mostly black and hispanic. Like <30% of the school was white so whites were disproportionately in the advanced classes well beyond normal demographics would dictate they should be.

Here the thing, if an advanced class was 80% blacks our society wouldn't be in the mess that it is currently because we wouldn't have racial issues. It's the fact blacks would never be in these classes that is the root of our problems in the first place.

It is so cruel, because the socially strong families have the money and the contacts to get their children into tutoring and also other schooling.

This kind of advanced public school is the only hope for bright children whose families do NOT have those things. It was their one leg up. So this is ANTI-poor, not pro.

On purpose, in my opinion. A successful black person gives the lie to "America is hell for black people no matter who they are or how smart they are, it's systemic." That's why the statue of Frederick Douglass, an amazing man and former slave, who tried very hard to help other black people, had to come down.
