At the site page there are 2 search bars. 1 to archive a link you have, another to search for links already archived. To archive a page yourself use the top bar and enter the link of the page you want to archive on the site. If you already have the link of the page you want to archive just enter it. If someone else gives you a link you can just copy their link without actually clicking it and post it to the archive.is as I did with what Kimball sent.
Your archive request will be sent and it usually takes less than 1 minute depending on how much is on the page. Just wait and stay on.
Once the archive is processed it will send you to the url it is saved at. Copy the url of the Archive site. If it was already archived the screen will say "this was archived x units ago." Sometimes it's good to archive it again and get another screenshot. But you don't have to worry about anything ever getting erased because it keeps all of them.
Post the new archive link to where you want to post it.
If you are looking for an archive of a page that is down,(i.e a tweet that was deleted) you can search for the page with the bottom bar on the archive.is site and check if it was archived by someone else by sending the broken link and/or headline keywords by using the bar at the bottom. But this only works if someone happened to already archive it and can be much harder to do.
Open a new tab and type archive.is
