Amazingly, the thing.s the actors are mocking in England are exactly what we are dealing with here. Government, gays, global warming, politicians, etc. Examples: 'Last of the Summer Wine, Waiting for God'

May I also suggest Are You Being Served? :D
yup, we watch it also Are You Being Served 2
If you want some Americana Classic, don't forget to look up Buster Keaton's old stuff; he's amazing!
Christ, I remember watching that when I was 9 or 10, my first exposure to British comedy. I still like Red Dwarf, I don't care what any of youse say!
I've nothing against Red Dwarf either lol ! but I wouldn't exactly call that one a regular repeater on the TV.
They'd been making more recent ones! Just had a special last year.
SO GOOD!
Classic... (Jon Inman) and Till Death Us Do Part. Alf Garnett is probably the best drawn comical working class bigot ever written. Warren Mitchell the actor playing him was a tour de force. People really believed he was Alf!
Ha, I loved them all! Strangely enough my Dad and I used to watch it on PBS together; when i was younger a lot of the jokes went over my head. but now that I'm older I find it hilarious on every watch!
Hopefully you binged on Till Death Us Do Part... that was the kind of political satire that would end careers if aired today, but was very powerful because of its lead character Alf Garnett. On top of being a world class bigot his character was actually just a clueless idiot who always came unstuck.
It's def. in my regular rotation! :D I also love Brother Cadfael, Father Ted, All Creatures Great and Small and Father Brown. Doc Martin's first few seasons were great too (but it's more recent)
