Amazingly, the thing.s the actors are mocking in England are exactly what we are dealing with here. Government, gays, global warming, politicians, etc. Examples: 'Last of the Summer Wine, Waiting for God'

Thank you, you too! I never thought I'd be talking British sitcoms on .win though ha! I haven't seen Dad's Army, but old Michael Crawford with Some Mothers Do Have 'Em! I found it funny and likeable, but it's not in the regular rotation. Oh my gosh he was so young though. I was lucky in that my Dad and my now Housemate enjoys British humor as much as I do, so I got to see a wide variety of shows! (i'm leaving out Monty Python on purpose, since I love it but almost everyone's seen it)
Some Mother's is sitcom Gold! Michael Crawford is so good in it. He manages to make his utterly hopeless character really likeable. You root for him and also pity his wife Betty! The entire 70's and some of the early 80's in brit sitcom terms was just untouchable. The standard of writing and casts... so good. Who's your number one America sitcom character? Probably Al Bundy for me!
Funnily enough I don't watch a lot of American TV (or any TV, movies, etc at all these days), but there was a lot of Green Acres, Get Smart and Dick Van Dyke when I was growing up, so likely Dick Van Dyke would be a favorite if I had to choose. I love Al to though! He's a classic and a lot of fun and so spot on with some things these days.
it's funny, I found M.C. as the Phantom first (amazing to see live), then that compelled me to go through his older works hence how I found Some Mother's.
I always leaned more towards our American Nature shows/documentaries, like National Geographic. My hero growing up was Bob Ballard (who went on to find Titanic, so I suppose I could have chosen worse!)
I adored Mary Tyler Moore and DVD, also Bewitched and Beverley Hillbillies, both easily as good as our best (Brit) comedies. Superb comedy actors and sparkling scripts. Comedy is dead in the cancel culture age imho.
Oh I forgot about Bewitched and then that just reminded me of I Dream of Jeannie and Mr Ed :D
