In every TV show set in the South there were no intact families. Either there was a single man, or unmarried people. Any married people were old. I don't recall any Leave it to Beaver type shows set it the South. There were the Waltons in WV, but that show wasn't until the 70's and seemed creepy, communal and the grandparents seemed creepy AF.
