I always laugh when hollywood gets it wrong, like the second John Wick movie, where they're walking through a crowd and supposedly stealth-shooting at each other with supressed pistols :)
For me its going through the hoops and paying the tax stamp for it. It really bothers me that you have to kiss the ring just to get a goddamned device that protects your hearing.
I can fire that without hearing protection but it’s still pretty loud, just not loud enough to harm your hearing.
Suppressors don’t do what they show in the movies. The gun is still loud, it is still CLEARLY a gunshot and all they do is lower the decibels to a level where your hearing isn’t impaired, temporarily or permanently.
Serious question - how much quieter is the one with the silencer?
Yeah it's still loud enough to hear from 50 to 100 feet away. Imagine it's like you pull the cord to start a chainsaw. Kinda like that.
Only with supersonic ammo. The large crack still heard is the round breaking the sound barrier.
Handguns with a suppressor and subsonic rounds are pretty quiet only sound really heard is the cycling of the action. No louder then a paintball gun.

Yea, then your rounds are still gonna be loud, sonic booms are loud and carry some energy that moves the air.
