Ordering things online is the way to go these days. Amazon is the biggest, but if you want to boycott them (which is hard) there's the option of using Amazon to lookup the businesses that sell what you want, then ordering from the company directly.
Not always an option, but when it is you usually get a discount since they have to pay a commission to amazon otherwise.
