Hey FBI - Why didn't you arrest Koresh when he was in town??

This^

Every week at a certain day and time he came into the nearest town. It was well known and the FBI new it.

Yup. From what I recall, his vintage Camero was at a local mechanic's shop. Koresh stopped by to check on the progress a few days before the siege.

They had men watching the compound for weeks before the raid. They knew his routine, when he left and which days he went jogging or riding.

They knew exactly what they were doing. They didn't want it to go down easy, they wanted to make a statement, regardless how many people got killed, including their own.

They were trying to conduct a search for illegal weapons in the compound, not arresting Koresh, iirc.

There was also an active child abuse investigation; one of Koresh's "wives" had a child at 14 or 15.

But the warrant the FBI/ATF was attempting to serve was for the illegal weapons.

Yeah Koresh was a creep to be sure. He told everyone that they couldnt have sex, even if they were married, but he was chosen by God to have sex with anyone he wanted so he just cucked all his male followers.

He was a creep. But he didn't deserve to be shot and all his followers (nearly) burned alive. If they wanted to take him so badly, why didn't they arrest him at any of the times he was in town? Then a confrontation would have been unnecessary and nobody had to die. But they had to flex the muscle of federal agencies and interdict a "dangerous domestic terrorist" who already believed in the inevitable conflict of the government with his followers. What did they think would happen?
