I love the idea of a single election day, but it comes down to a matter of logistics. Early voted in my state and the line was around the building with an hour wait. At peak production, they could process a voter through ID check and registration verification every 30 seconds. Next, once a machine was open, it took 3 minutes at least to complete the selection of candidates and print my ballot, which I then fed into the reader. 4 minutes per voter to complete the process. You can boost production with multiple ID checks and 6-8 machines per ID checker. Every 3-4 machines needs a person to answer questions and assist the idiots.

In order for this to work we either need to mobilize an army of poll workers, watchers, and trusted agents to work the polls for 24 hours straight, or call out the National Gua... son of a bitch, I'm in!
