Well he did mock Christianity openly in it in a way I'd expect no Christian of faith to utter anything remotely that bad. He was such an inept leader. Russia has like 20+ different ethnicities and a bunch of different religions. If only he went their to liberate them he could have shattered the Soviet Union on it's own. Go look at Napoleon and how he ignored good advice from so many and instead insisted on Moscow and it was the same with Hitler. Ukraine had no love of Stalin and the USSR and would have happily sided almost entirely with anyone seeking to liberate them, but Hitler had blind and neverending ambition that amazingly didn't sit well with most people in the lands he was aiming to take over.

Because he was looking for allies, don't mistake that for his personal belief's. He would promise them the moon and stars to help contain Russia.
