I think that trump inadvertently set the Supremes up to act this way by talking too much. As he was getting Coney through the process, he kept saying "We have to get her through because the Supreme court will decide the election" Of course, this put a huge spotlight on her as well as his other appointees. They would forever be labeled as Trumpers and every decision they make in the next decades would carry the smell political favoritism. He as much said they would hand the election to him. He boxed them in with his words. If they decided for him, they would forever be seen as political hacks.

True, as we have seen, liberal judges don't seem to mind being perceived in that way because they have been deluded by leftist ideology, but conservative Judges have an innate concern for the preservation of the reputation of the courts and of their own reputation as being fair. Taking the long view of it, as conservatives often do, I believe that these conservative judges that Trump appointed will have their reputations intact for many important cases in the future.
