A little later, but my neighborhood had a similar mix. We didn't really see color because it didn't matter. You grow older and the politicians get involved in the mix, and you get what we have now. Same here. The 1970s (e.g. Sesame Street and desegregation) actually helped make it so that kids didn't give a shit about color.
