The truth was that these sick people had influenza-like lung conditions that would have responded (steroids, nebulizer, high flow oxygen) to standard pneumonia treatment to get them away from death's door but those treatments were ruled out, and patients isolated from friends and family due to hysterical fear of the virus. We literally made decisions to make hospitals 'safe' from sick patients. IF ONLY those with family had known that their loved ones could have more likely survived with simple home treatment.
