It’s definitely suspicious, I’m just not sure how much is confirmation bias. Some people in that group are going to get black eyes, even if they are rare. It does seem oddly more common among politicians though.
And you probably never saw a colleague with one either. Once you are past your active sporting (and for some, bar fighting) days, a black eye is very rare. But somehow all these people in power get one, and it's perfectly normal.
And they all lie and say they passed out and fell. If you pass out and fall and hit your eye, you won't also need stitches. Unless you fall face-first for 10 feet.

I can't remember the last time I have seen an adult male with one. So, yeah this definitely seems weird to me.
