You want the government to be open to all citizens and you want your church to be open to Christians and those who want to be Christians. And then you let your government decide what marriage means, but you say marriage comes from the church. So which is it?
If marriage is a church thing, then it cannot be given to the government or else it's for everyone. If it's for everyone, then don't say that it must be what the church says it is.
You may say that civil unions were available, but the federal government does not recognize a civil union the same as a marriage in many ways, including family benefits because some politicians decided that the government should hold Christian marriages above all other unions. God tells us that if we ask for Heaven, we get the Earth as well. If we ask for the Earth we get neither. These politicians wanted the Christian marriage to be held above all on Earth, and so now, God has thrown chaos into the institution of Christian marriage on Earth, and it has caused many people to lose their way to Heaven. This is what happens when you seek the riches of God on Earth. You get nothing. Good day.
So please, pull back the institution of marriage back into the church. Tell the government to fuck off and classify you as a family. They don't need to know whether you have been sanctified by God because they will instead claim to be the god who sanctifies marriages. And you trying to make government more like God risks making you believe government to be your god. Keep marriage in the church and let everyone else have the bastardization that we let the government make out of marriage.
