They take themselves so super serious too, lol. The facade that they care about voters rights really means they care about making elections easier to cheat at. These people are zombies.

Elections are always illegitimate. A majority does not give you the moral authority to interfere with the lives of others.

if you shit upstream of me in a river, do I have the moral authority to go interfere with your anus or do I let you keep interfering with my swimming

I'm sure we could find a neutral third party to adjudicate such a dispute.

Or you could buy a pool if you're worried about animals shitting where you swim.

We live in a society where we are all supposed to follow the rules, we lend representatives some of our power as the people so they can represent us (both sides) as a whole nation, in accepting those unspoken rules, we do indeed give our government the right to interfere via a democratic majority in order to succeed as a fully functioning republic

It's when the minority strikes out and steals that power from we the people that turns us into a banana Republic as what has just happened

The real answer is that we end up finding an equilibrium where we dont do shit that has a reasonable chance of leading to violence.

If I shit in the river you would come kick my ass, and rightfully so. Most people would likely either help you or at least not interfere since im fucking with their water too.

Or our respective security forces have a conversation about the offense, and mine comes back and tells me to knock that shit off or they won’t protect me anymore, at least not for the standard rate. Defending people who start shit over nothing is expensive.

The difference is you don't have the option to revoke the pay from your representative.

But these men who claim and exercise this absolute and irresponsible dominion over us, dare not be consistent, and claim either to be our masters, or to own us as property. They say they are only our servants, agents, attorneys, and representatives. But this declaration involves an absurdity, a contradiction. No man can be my servant, agent, attorney, or representative, and be, at the same time, uncontrollable by me, and irresponsible to me for his acts.

Yes, he does.

The very idea of the power and the right of the People to establish Government presupposes the duty of every Individual to obey the established Government.

You have the option to fire him by recall or election, no reasons given.

Hardcouer 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not so. As long as constitutional rights are respected and government sticks to things individuals can't do (e.g. defend against invasions, maintain law and order, maintain the border), they're totally legitimate.

Democracy isn't magic. In fact, pure democracy tends to despotism and the abuse of the rights of minorities. The founding fathers were smart enough to avoid pure democracy.

The "democratic republic" the founding fathers created was designed to be run by good people, and will fail otherwise in any number of ways.

If you reject representative government and voting across the board, you have dwindling options - a dictator, mob rule. None of those sound very exciting unless you can find just the right benevolent dictator. Good luck with that.

It's nice that this bill passed. How many states have Voter ID laws? We need every single state to pass similar bills.

No, they're actual domestic violent extremists.

SmugFrog 4 points ago +4 / -0

So is the fake news media going to call this an insurrection and label this rabble as domestic terrorists? Is this going to be used as an example of "black terrorism"? Are capitol security going to start gunning these dipshits down? Or is that only reserved for Patriots who have legitimate grievances and peacefully protested against a stolen election?
