Palestine is a territory within the borders of Israel...which is nuts. The reason why it is not a country, Pedes, is because there are certain conditions required for classification as a country, per international standards, including: (1) well-defined borders; (2) an independent governance system; (3) an official standing militia; and (4) it's own currency and banking system. The Vatican has met all four criteria (the Swiss Guards are its standing militia), and is recognized, therefore, as a city-state within Italy, and not as a territory within it. Palestine has neither of the latter most two items on the list of requirements.
