All of Dr Seuss books are great. Some far too long and gets hard to read with many of the made up words, but they really inspired my son's love of reading and reading from them every day to him helped him read on his own much earlier than his peers. (I think the frequent rhyming found in his books made it more fun for my son)

These six books have been taken off of many book sales websites and their prices have been predictably jacked up on used book sites. Looks like I'll have to hope to find them in a used book some day. Is there any way to get ahead of this? What are they considering canceling next?

Just checked out a compendium of Seuss stories from my middle school library. Has 3 of the canceled stories. It’s a $35 lost book replacement fee and I think this one is getting lost lol.

All of Dr Seuss books are great. Some far too long and gets hard to read with many of the made up words, but they really inspired my son's love of reading and reading from them every day to him helped him read on his own much earlier than his peers. (I think the frequent rhyming found in his books made it more fun for my son)

"And to Think that I saw it on Mulberry Street" is one of his best books. That was my favorite as a child. If they are so worried about a Chinese man holding chopsticks, then maybe the Chinese (and other cultures of Asian descent) should stop having chopsticks in their restaurants. Or if it soooooo offensive, freakin' photoshop the darn chopsticks into a spoon and make the character look anime. What rejects.
Was gonna buy these books while you can still get them, but since the publisher is the one dropping them, I see no reason to give them my money.
Look for them at Half Price Books if you're in the Texas area; or Goodwill, yard sales, etc.
How interesting that there is no citation of what is supposedly "racist" in these books. The only thing mentioned is one line that says "a Chinese boy who eats with sticks." What's wrong with that? Acknowledging reality is racist?

Fun Fact: Dr. Seus drew political cartoons during WW2 and it's pretty obvious from some of them he definitely supported FDR and the Democrat party of that time.
What should be really pointed out in light of this though are the several he published several against racism and a questioning why blacks were being denied abilities to help in the war effort.
