It doesn't matter if you respond or not. The word is a cudgel and they use it to strike those who oppose them. We're at 20 years of challenging and responding to it, it makes zero difference to them.
This is the correct answer and keenest observation: 20 (and its really more) but 20 straight years of this, we can challenge it, have done that, go on about it and they will use it tomorrow and the next day. Makes no difference to them.
This is why you don’t respond with logic. Respond in kind. If they call you a racist, call them a racist. If they call you a white supremacist, call them a white supremacist. (doesn’t even matter if they’re white). Whatever they say to you that is ridiculous, just say it back to them. They will eventually stop.

Agree. If one of these unhinged, brainwashed, Marxist idiots accuse you of being a racist, why even waste time denying it? Nothing you can say will make them change their minds or retract their words, like you, realize you’re not so bad, be kind to you. Nothing. You can say you have a black or other non-white spouse, kids, parents, employees, employer - it doesn’t matter. Any response at all sounds to them exactly like “Ackshully- I have friends who are black...”. I’ve watched so many decent, nice, honorable, entirely not racist white people talk themselves into a corner when responding to these obnoxious freaks. My answer now is simply “Why? Are you?” Also, just agree “yeah, you got me, I guess so”, “And?”, “So? It’s a free country, not against the law, etc.” They honestly don’t know where to go from there because their programming is all geared towards breaking you down, shaming you and convincing you that you ARE a racist. Don’t engage.
Depending on the mood I’m in, I just respond with I am whatever you think I am, now what you gonna do about it, or Im glad you noticed because I’ve been practicing every weekend in my downtime. Practice makes perfect. 😁
