The Swamp is Deep and Trump tried to pick someone that would be honest and patriotic but where are going to go to choose someone to replace an FBI or CIA director? The list is short and they are lifers of the beltway and you have very few that are not influenced by the swamp. People like Peter Navarro are few and far between.

I get tired of reading people criticizing Trump's appointments. It's tiring explaining this all the time. McConnell is the head of the beast on who gets in. Trump had to do some fancy footwork to get Grennel/Ratcliffe. The way that went down was a perfect illustration. This is also why I was never truly excited about all those judges Trump got through. How could anyone be a white hat that gets approved by McConnell and the Senate?
True, so very true. You would need to go way down the food chain and probably pretty young to find someone not a member of the swamp.
The swamp has specific bloodlines going back centuries, if not longer.
Good luck with that.
And then they would never get approved.
I’m not sure exactly how the executive branch works, is the President limited to hiring/firing senate confirmed officials? If not, the best thing for our country would be for the President to just fire every employee of the executive branch except for the dod side of things, and then just never replace them.
That would singlehandedly fix the majority of our countries problems, and the rest would probably sort themselves out in short order.
The problem with that is that the swamp would never allow that and would either JFK or 25th any president who tried to do it. Because clearly a politician who wants a smaller government is insane, right?
Trump would have been better off appointing people with high scores here on T_D, vs. many of the folks he did appoint. At least he would have gotten people serious about implementing our America First policies.
For example, I'm pretty sure acting FBI director MewThat would have been much better for the country than Chris Wray. See where I'm going with this? Of course, for this to work, there have to be at least a few lower level folks willing to report to the boss what is actually going on in their respective agencies.
Trump should have had a very public whistleblower channels for MAGA folks to report on wrongdoing by the swamp folks they work with.
This would be great, but they never would have been confirmed by the Senate.
Exactly. We're agreeing up front to take a 6 month sabbatical from our jobs to work in government (the epitome of citizen-statesman, by the way), and we just tag team, from one T_D patriot to another, with the outgoing person giving the incoming person the scoop on what the outgoing person has learned, tips, etc.
We'd go, serve our country with no expectation of being there longer than the time period allotted to get an acting person approved.
So how are we to trust the candidates that he wants us to put our money behind?
We cant trust any of them. My plan is to vote for anyone who primaries an incumbent. If the incumbent wins, I will write in Donald Trump in the general.
I will NEVER vote for another incumbent. NEVER.
We have to do our own research and if they are an incumbent, we have to look at their voting records.
Good question and I don't know.
Trump knowingly endorsed shitty R's because he wanted House and Senate majorities that would back his policies, and figured that any R was better than a D. That got us such notable luminaries as Mitch McConnell, Kelly Loeffler, and Mitt Romney.
While we are out of power, sitting on the sidelines, THIS is the time to purge these fucks from office. I realize that most of the problematic senators are not up in 2022, but every House member is up for reelection, and those that fucked over America must be primaried out, regardless of party.
Then Trump could have (and should have) told the American people what the fuck he was up against AS HE WAS FACING IT, instead of saddling us with corrupt cunts like Wray and Barr.
There is always more than one way to attack the deep state fuckery before you cave to your enemy.
That was his greatest weakness trusting too many in the swamp. If Flynn was there everything would have been different that is why Obama wanted him out.
He coulda picked the best of what was available and then turf them for an acting position that he knows would get shit done.
Plus Trump had the House and Senate when he got into office. He shoulda picked whoever the fuck he wanted and then exposed those RINO's if they didn't confirm.
Harder said than done, the UniParty doesn't break rank.
I never said it would be easy, but IT NEEDS to be done.
America needs a Washington, Lincoln or Jefferson level President.
I agree. Trump had the bully pulpit and was not only not afraid to use it to talk directly to the American people, he is exceptionally GOOD at it.
Having said that, there were a LOT of positions to fill, and Trump needed outside help to come up with candidates. He got a lot of swampy, shitty advice. As time went on, though, and he saw how shitty many of the recommended pics were, he should have done more to find better candidates. Instead of Bill Barr and Chris Wray, he should have hired folks from Judicial Watch, for example.
Trumps biggest failing was assuming Bush era GOP were legit, when they were just RINO's the entire time.
Bush era GOP did a good job of branding their treachery as "Republican".
House and Senate? I think he had the Freedom Caucus plus Rand.
I wondered about that technique as well. Just pick outsiders and let them keep rejecting them, until their game becomes obvious. BUT he didn't do that.
Yeah not sure why Trump did alot of what he did.
He obviously thought the people made the swamp, but little did he know THE SYSTEM is the swamp. The Senators are just creatures that live in it.
You're president. Pick who you want. Let them shoot it down. He didn't do that.
I am hoping that he has learnt his lesson and will never play the game with Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell!
I don't think that people understand this.
Acting FBI Director ?
Spoken like a true cuck.
