To be honest I think the counterfeit $20 was just a fluke as Floyd was likely frequenting shady places. If it were something serious I would expect him to have had more than one. I wouldn't let that part of the story distract me unless there are more interesting aspects of it.

If you’re passing counterfeit money, you don’t carry a a pocketful with you. If you get caught with one note, excusable. A pocketful and you’re busted. Just a guess.

That is a fair point but I confess I'm not convinced because Floyd specifically was not the most rational person and not was he in command of his emotions. Otherwise I'm with you.

Drug addicted criminals are never in the right state of mind.

I wonder if he passed any bills earlier in the day or that week.

Real police work will reveal if it was a fluke or he had access to phony money.

It would be nice to know.
