This nonsense about death threats has been used so frequently as an excuse to demonize conservative thought leaders that I can no longer accept that conservatives are stupid enough to continue engaging in sending such threats. Either the people claiming to receive them are lying about the threats themselves, or the sources themselves are not conservatives.
