In the 50 some years that i have worked i have enjoyed white priviledge, because i wanted to learn every aspect of every job i did , i was lucky to have bosses that encouraged me to learn everything i wanted to which all included injection moulding the set up of the equipment, repair of the equipment, electrical, hydraulic , pneumatic aspects then on to compounding where i got to learn more on PLCS, Phone systems , computers , various HMIs feeder control systems.
You may ask why i learned this, well it was fun and i never once got laid off nor did i ever have to ask for a raise.
While most others would make the remark you pay me the rate and i will learn the job. Dam that white priviledge,
Everyone should experience being fired at least once in their life.
I quit a couple of jobs and pissed off plant managers a few times but i went to work every day with the idea i would be going home early because i pissed some off. I figured that i could go back to searching for another job like i was doing when i found the one i was working.
But let me point out I DID MY JOB . and did not need someone to watch over me.
I cussed the wrong guy out once, it was a coffee thing, and had to do with a work shift on a CNC Lathe..................dude thought it was dangerous to use it, I figured it was there for a reason. Did it my way, an forgot to cover my tracks. Came in the next morning and dude was like, don't use work shift, I told him he was a dumb ass, I had a little too much caffeine.
Next day they gave me my check, and fired me. Got to keep your temper.
