My state doesn't require voter ID, or at least I don't think it does. There's two main kinds of ID you can get in the united states, for most purposes. A driver's license, or a state ID. I think a voter id is different. If voter id is a regular id then its that much more ridiculous since every adult is required to have at least a photo id
