It's true. I get annoyed if my husband helps TOO much with the "women's work." Now we have two small kids and another on the way, so there are always circumstances involved, especially if it's right after I've given birth. But generally speaking, I prefer he just do normal courteous things like take his dishes to the sink and throw away is own trash... but not do too much stuff like dishes, laundry, picking things out for aesthetics.
My wife “lets” me be the sous chef (aka vegetable chopper), that’s the only time she lets me in the kitchen unless I’m making a roux (traditionally a male activity in many Cajun families). I’m also chief meat smoker and griller. Funny how this all works the same in stable families all over the country, huh?
