Reminds me of a former customer of mine when I worked at a bank. An old country man. He wanted to do something odd, I can't recall exactly what he was up to, but I jokingly asked what his wife thought about the idea. His wife was standing right behind him; they made a game out of teasing one another in public, but I still didn't expect his response. Something along the lines of, "It's mind over matter, son. I don't mind and she sure as hell don't matter."
She slapped the hell out of the back of his head and he laughed the entire time.
I love Mike Rowe. I met him at a conference a few years ago where he was the keynote speaker. He showed up to a happy hour the night before and we BS’d for a good 20-30 minutes. He’s just as nice (and witty) as you picture in your mind.
It's not about Dr Seuss - it's about HR-1 come on man
Shown Here:
Introduced in House (01/04/2021)
For the People Act of 2021
This bill addresses voter access, election integrity and security, campaign finance, and ethics for the three branches of government.
Specifically, the bill expands voter registration (e.g., automatic and same-day registration) and voting access (e.g., vote-by-mail and early voting). It also limits removing voters from voter rolls.
The bill requires states to establish independent redistricting commissions to carry out congressional redistricting.
Additionally, the bill sets forth provisions related to election security, including sharing intelligence information with state election officials, supporting states in securing their election systems, developing a national strategy to protect U.S. democratic institutions, establishing in the legislative branch the National Commission to Protect United States Democratic Institutions, and other provisions to improve the cybersecurity of election systems.
Further, the bill addresses campaign finance, including by expanding the prohibition on campaign spending by foreign nationals, requiring additional disclosure of campaign-related fundraising and spending, requiring additional disclaimers regarding certain political advertising, and establishing an alternative campaign funding system for certain federal offices.
The bill addresses ethics in all three branches of government, including by requiring a code of conduct for Supreme Court Justices, prohibiting Members of the House from serving on the board of a for-profit entity, and establishing additional conflict-of-interest and ethics provisions for federal employees and the White House.
The bill requires the President, the Vice President, and certain candidates for those offices to disclose 10 years of tax returns.
Father- “Brian, I don’t believe that you really think you are or actually want to be a woman. I think this is a cry for attention, you are going down a dark path and will loose out on so much happiness if you continue down this path.”
Brian- “My name is Susan now!!! Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. My real allies are the nameless faceless people on Reddit who egg me on!”
Anyone who thinks banning books is a good idea is a complete retard.
Why? Because ideas don't go away because a book isn't available, that's why.
And if you're too stupid to figure that out, and why people have a right to free speech -- feel free to go to a communist country where they'll really give you the policies you want. While stomping on your face.
(Edit: This comment wasn't here when I checked today, so reposting - mods, you have an issue, message me - don't do this shadowban bullshit. Thanks.)
I don’t really agree with this sentiment.
Those who matter should mind.
It the people how are most important to me who have lead me back onto the right path regardless of my feelings.
Acceptance without questioning is leftist leftist belief.
It’s also important to note Dr. Seuss was a huge progressive.
Sorry if that ruins some part of your childhood.
I came to the conclusion that religion is a good way to convey ethics, culture and tradition that promotes societal cohesion and trust. Atheism does not provide any foundation, so unless you can replace religion with a coherent philosophical set of ideas, it's preferable to have religion.
That said, there are bad religions, just as there are bad ideologies. Christianity contributed a lot to promote individual liberties in the West, and its decline over the past century shows that authoritarianism and tyranny are creeping back.
And if there is a void, communism will take over - as most institutions today are riddled with Marxists.
With obvious exceptions - even kids who stray from organized religion as they get older will typically still embody the core ethical and moral standards of their upbringing.
Christianity provides good guidelines on how to live. Our lives are short. We stand to benefit from collective wisdom over millennia. Just like how Adam and Eve used the free will given to them by God to get banished from the garden, we also use our free will to either follow in Christ or not.
Alan Keyes pointed out that the danger of an atheistic humanist movement is that it promotes the idea that the President of the United States is the highest authority and most powerful being in the universe.
A devoutly believing POTUS (and not just one who feigns faith for political purposes) must at least acknowledge his own dependence on his Creator.
Professing vice to gain political support still strikes me as somehow more evil than professing virtue to gain political support. Both are terrible, and perhaps the former is less deceptive so I'm open to being convinced otherwise, but when we've reached a point where godlessness is the fad, it doesn't speak well of us.
I think religion has an important place. There's some great wisdom and advice. Once a society stops worshipping god they begin to worship man, and that invariably leads down a terrible rabbit hole. Just my 2 cents.
In fact, if you look at it, fellowship is a form of accountability. Faith is a private and a social thing according to the Bible. Without it, you may do OK, but with it steel sharpens steel. Every time.
This isn't true at all. Myself along with many others found God later in life and were either not taught at all or taught that God isn't real as children.
I actually found it impossible to believe in religion because I was raised in a religious household—I couldn’t tell if it was really what I wanted or I was just too conditioned to religion. So I dropped it, left the church. I was jealous of those who were raised without religion because it seemed a more fair way to make a decision about it. So I don’t agree with your statement.

Great story, thanks for telling it.
Ngl. We'd all laugh at that one.
LOL
Now those are what I call a dame and a gent.
Absolute mad lad
Ah... So this is why they're banning his books...
Is this why? I'm out of the loop on Seuss getting cancelled
he was raciss
Didn't they try to cancel Mike Rowe too?
I'm sure they have, he's a conservative out in the open.
"Racism" but probably mostly to distract from the bullshit COVID relief scam and the democrat governors in hot water for various criminal enterprises.
I'm all for the M&M movement. Minds Matter. Yeah!
The M&M movement is racist because liberals don't have minds and will be excluded.
"A mind is a terrible thing to waste"
Oh wait, that's raysys and cultural appropriation. DeviDE bY zERo.
You have to think fat liberals would be on board with it, thinking the movement would be about small circular chocolates.
Mike Rowe is just such an awesome dude - I'm glad he tells it like it is. Always something good coming from him and always entertaining to read!
Mike is a national treasure.
Mike Rowe is BOSS
Truth. Bomb.
Great advice from the most fun author for kids. I used to love reading those books to my children. He made reading to your kids fun.

Dr. Seuss was on some gnarly posi drugs

How about I ban you for your dumbass statement?
You talk like a retarded communist.
everyone worships something, better it be a benevolent "sky god" than some fucktard collectivist ideology
Ackchyually.... There are more things in heaven and earth, Basilone, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
...well my philosophy of not turning government in to God was one of the major principles this country was founded on

I find my faith very freeing. You should listen to your heart.
In fact, if you look at it, fellowship is a form of accountability. Faith is a private and a social thing according to the Bible. Without it, you may do OK, but with it steel sharpens steel. Every time.
If they didn't indoctrinate children with religious bullshit from the moment they popped out nobody would buy any of it.

Jesus thinks you're a fucking idiot.
No he doesn’t
What if who you are is a child of God? Now do see it?
Offers opinion, flexes ego
Tells others to “let go of your ego”
What is cognitive dissonance?
GOTO 10
You're a condescending, self-righteous narcissist.
You go around telling everybody else that they are inferior to you. That they are "simpletons." And you claim to be of Christ? Peace and Harmony?
Get the fuck out of here, you lowlife scumbag.
Yikes.
