Grades and attendance can be accessed with a few clicks on your phone once you set up the app with the schools which they constantly push on parents from elementary onward. We send out report cards quarterly and progress reports either 1 or 2 times between each report card. There is no execuse for a parent to go four years without inquiring about her sons grades.

As for the passing on to English 2 when they failed, it’s common practice because most kids mature a little by 17-18 and take credit recovery classes to get those credits back. It is shitty and the teachers hate the policies as well since it gives students 2 weeks of work for what most students take an entire semester to complete. Blame no child left behind (bush) for starting these practices by tying $ to graduation rates. This kid should have gone through the stupid fucking credit recovery classes and he would have been “graduated” with a minority scholarship to a small public school like the rest of his classmates.

Graduation means jack shit because of these policies, but this kid is stupid as hell and lied to his momma for 4 years. The school contacted her because it is automated and I know every school has to contact parents when kids are at-risk which he clearly was from ninth grade on. I’m willing to bet the school and teachers have paperwork showing their many attempts to involve mom who ignored them or is conveniently forgetting these attempts to remedy his attendance and academic failures.
